Experimental Afternoon Teas at Foundry House

First steps towards a surplus food cafe ?

With the support of Communities First, the Cooperative Society and the Hywel Dda University Health Board a small group of volunteers have been trialling an afternoon tea experience at Foundry House following visits and talks with the successful ‘Transition Bro Gwaun organisers based in Fishguard

Three afternoon teas have been initially trialled, and feedback suggests that a permanent Surplus Food Café would be appreciated. The group meet again next week to share feedback, the design of a logo and the dates and timing for this new regular event.

Start-up funding and facilities have been donated from Pembroke 21C Community Association, Pembroke Soup, PATCH and Tabernacle URC Pembroke who are here seen giving customers and some of the volunteers a cheque for £53-50 – the collection from their recent Christmas Service.

Pictured are Kate Smith, the Community Nutrition Practitioner at Hywel Dda University Health Board, Alison Jones and Anna Price, 21C Community Association, Kath Harries from Tabernacle Hub and customers Francesca and Jim Morgan, Jamie Gurney and Winter Coaker.

Many thanks to Christine Gwyther and Jo Brookman-Lloyd of Communities First for so ably leading us. We wish you both success in your careers following the ending of the Communities First Project.
